sometimes it’s hard to accept that they’re really gone. We’ll love you forever Whitney.
Thanks for everything.

As around the sun the earth knows she’s revolving
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early May
Just as hate knows love’s the cure
You can rest your mind assure
That I’ll be loving you always
As now can’t reveal the mystery of tomorrow
But in passing will grow older every day
Just as all is born is new
Do know what I say is true
That I’ll be loving you always
Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky—ALWAYS
Until the ocean covers every mountain high—ALWAYS
Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea—ALWAYS
Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream
Did you know that true love asks for nothing
Her acceptance is the way we pay
Did you know that life has given love a guarantee
To last through forever and another day
Just as time knew to move on since the beginning
And the seasons know exactly when to change
Just as kindness knows no shame
Know through all your joy and pain
That I’ll be loving you always
As today I know I’m living but tomorrow
Could make me the past but that I mustn’t fear
For I’ll know deep in my mind
The love of me I’ve left behind Cause I’ll be loving you always.

If you want to know
Where I’m going?
Where I’m going, soon
If anybody ask you
Where I’m going
Where I’m going soon
I’m goin’ up yonder
I’m goin’ up yonder
I’m goin’ up yonder
To be with my Lord
I can take the pain
The heartaches they bring
The comfort in knowing
I’ll soon be gone
As God gives me grace
I’ll run this race
Until I see my Savior
Face to face
I’m goin’ up yonder
I’m goin’ up yonder
I’m goin’ up yonder
To be with my Lord
We bow in humble submission to our Lord and His sovereign will…see you when we get there! Rest in Peace Bishop Hawkins…you’ll never be forgotten.

So this weekend was activity filled. On Friday evening I had the pleasure of seeing P.J. Morton @ Joe’s Pub which was super hot! Sidebar: Shout out to my nieces Ebony and Ivory…I love you Ladies!
Back to the evening…
Joe’s Pub is an intimate venue in the village which must hold about 70 -100 people max. I was armed with a camera and a good corner seat to see P.J. shut the place down. Show starts promptly at 9:30 and immediately I’m drawn into magic. Now perhaps you don’t know who he is or don’t agree with my assessment of his artistry but he unlike so many is a true musician. His lyrical content, musicianship was organic. It was just pure and you felt pure when it was over. It’s almost like listening to Stevie Wonder, you somehow feel different after you hear him, or at least I do. Anyhoo, it was an incredible set, full of some of his current and past offerings, all wonderful. My absolute favorite thing about him is the way he closes, he sings the theme from “Cheers”. WHO DOES THAT?!! What artists sing a television theme song full of enough passion and soul to make you feel like you are in a Baptist revival, again, WHO DOES THAT? He was inspiring and engaging, I’m a fan for life.
On his latest project Walk Alone, he has a song that actually encourages me to keep moving forward. It’s one of my faves. Listen to the lyrics and stop making Mountains outta Molehills.

As a 70′s baby, I was blessed to have a mother who loved music and had an amazing music collection. I can’t recall a time that there wasn’t music playing. By the time I was 5, Songs In the Key of Life was released and I was in love. It’s the greatest album of all time in my opinion. I understood at the first a capella do-do-do of Love’s In Need of Love Today that music could touch your soul and I would play that record and literally cry. And from that day until this, Stevie continues to be my absolute favorite artist His music has been a constant refuge and inspiration for me to create. I even thanked him in my book because so many times I would play his music to help me get into my creative space. He is the ultimate soundtrack to my life. Thank you Stevie for every wonderful lyric and chord, you still inspire me. I’ll be loving you ALWAYS!
